Does patient centred care make more money?

I'm guessing that if you're reading this, your first reaction to that question was something like "I'm not in this job for the money!"

Great, me neither! Fortunately, my experience has been that this is true for most practitioners. And my content doesn't' generally appeal to the few who are money-focused.

However, we all have bills to pay. And ultimately, if we can't keep the lights on, we can't help anyone!

Don't worry, this isn't a whole discussion about business management and profitability - I'm not really the guy for that. But I recently came across a study that looked at whether patient centred care is a good business decision: Does it affect your bottom line?

I wanted to share my thoughts as well as a quick summary here, and why the results were especially surprising for me in particular.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this - feel free to drop me a comment below!

P.S. for those of you who like to geek out on the full text, a little secret: lead authors are allowed to give out free full-text PDFs to anyone who asks (nicely) - click on "author information" just below the study title to find it.

P.P.S. you can find more info on the mentorship program I mentioned here. -
